Heylow friends! The Cinema Sala community has the unique chance to meet the Creators and Cast of the Netflix Original Anime Series “Trese” this Saturday and we’re so stoked!  “Trese” fuses Philippine horror mythology with dark, graphic storytelling, based on an award-winning Filipino horror/crime graphic novel by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo. The 6-episode series features some of the best FIlipinx creative talent including director-animator Jay Oliva, writer-producer Tanya Yuson, writers Mihk Vergara and Zig Marasigan, voice actors Liza Soberano, Shay Mitchell, Jon Jon Briones, Manny Jacinto, Dante Basco, Darren Criss, Lou Diamond Phillips and Nicole Scherzinger. She started in a range of television series and films, including Wansapanataym, Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo, She’s The One, Must Be Love. She rose to prominence after playing the protagonist in the romantic comedy television series Forevermore with Enrique Gil. She has since paired with Gil in the films Just The Way You Are, Everyday I Love You, My Ex and Whys, Alone/Togetherand the television series Dolce Amore, Bagani and Make It With You. An animation industry veteran since 1996, JAY OLIVA has crafted storyboards for Spider-Man, Winnie the Pooh, and everything in between.  He’s directed a dozen animated films for both Marvel and DC as well as the acclaimed Young Justice  series, in addition to teaching the “Cinematic Storyboard” class at Loyola Marymount University that ushered in a generation of talent to the industry. In 2012, Jay was recruited by Zack Snyder to storyboard the DC Cinematic Universe beginning with Man of Steel, leading to other live action projects including Deadpool, Wonder Woman, Thor: Ragnarok, and Army of the Dead. With decades of experience under his belt, Jay founded Lex and Otis, LLC in 2018 to share his unique passion and vision with the world.  TANYA YUSON is a founding partner and Chief Creative Development officer of BASE Entertainment, a studio based out of Jakarta and Singapore that develops, finances, produces and distributes content for the Indonesian market as well as for the international market. She is the Executive producer and writer for the Netflix Original Anime Series Trese. Currently, BASE has a slate of projects in varying stages of development and pre-production including a slate of movies that are co-productions with CJ entertainment and Ivanhoe, the first of which is Joko Anwar’s film Impetigore which had its world premiere at Sundance in 2020 and won the top prize at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. Prior to founding BASE, Tanya spent 14 years in New York and Los Angeles where she worked in development for studios such as New Line Cinema and The Walt Disney Company. She then went on to be a producer and an executive at Millar Gough Ink, a production company whose principals were Al Gough and Miles Millar, where she worked on company projects such as Smallville for TV and feature films such as The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Hannah Montana: The Movie and I Am Number Four to name a few. Tanya was also a consultant for the Dino de Laurentiis company in Los Angeles. MIHK VERGARA has been writing and directing for TV, digital and film since 2004. His first feature film, Patintero: Ang Alamat Ni Meng Patalo, won the audience and gender sensitivity awards when it was released in 2015 at the QCinema Film Festival. He lives in Mandaluyong with his two Cats. ZIG MARASIGAN is a screenwriter, commercial director, and award-winning children’s book author based in Manila, Philippines. He has penned a variety of projects for film and TV, from Regal Film’s Shake Rattle and Roll XV, Star Cinema’s Every Breath You Take, to award-winning indies such as Patintero: Ang Alamat ni Meng Patalo, and Tandem (New Wave Best Feature Film winner, Metro Manila Film Festival).
