What Happened at the 6th FilAm Creations Meeting & Potluck?

Heels off after FilAm Creative’s 3rd Hollywood Actors Panel yesterday was FilAm Creations’ 6th Meeting and Potluck.  And, boy, the monthly social had one of its most hilarious break-the-ice introductions yet!

This first sign should have been a warning…  One of our members brought balut to the potluck!

For those of you who don’t know, balut is a developing bird embryo (usually a duck or chicken) that is boiled and eaten from the shell. It originates and is commonly sold as street-food in the Philippines.  It is usually served with beer, but alcohol products were not allowed at the potluck.  As this bowl of balut sat innocently on the potluck table; waiting to be devoured by both regulars and the curious, it didn’t stop a few of us making fun about this South Asian delicacy; actual defensive reactions to our fears of a developing balut club…  Too sweet.

Regular attendees were required to bring at least one friend to be introduced.  Some of our regulars brought more than one…

Another Al Domino masterpiece!

And attendees transported homemade food for the growing and hungry membership!  Afterwards, both primary introductions of the FilAm Creations curator Craig Wilson, FilAm Creative Executive Director Meriden Villanueva and Team Leaders for the upcoming 3rd annual Halo Halo Headshots, Walter Talens, the Writers Group, Kaitlyn Fae and updates on the horror anthology, Money Vang were provided.  Next was to introduce new members to the entire group!

Of course, if either the current member or the new member mention a performance skill each are really great at, you can hear both Talens and Mara De La Rosa begin to chant, ‘SAMPLE!” endlessly until one or both of you delivered!

Some have tried…

While others have succeeded…  Here actors & fight choreographers Murphy Pham and Ben Guppy delivered a gruesome duel during last night’s potluck after the crowd got blood thirsty demanding “SAMPLE! SAMPLE!”

While “SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! is heard weekly on Games Of Thrones, every end of the month, you’ll hear “SAMPLE! SAMPLE! SAMPLE!” at FilAm Creations Monthly Meetup & Potluck!

Last night was a lot of fun!

You can join the fun, too!  Every 4th Saturday of the month except for November and December due to the holidays, we are at Pilipino Workers Center in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles! Get to know our active members, leadership team members and Board of Directors and come out to the next one! Bring along a friend, too! Our membership continues to grow!
