#FACinfocus: “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” Editors Dexter Adriano and A.J. Calomay


Dexter Adriano and A.J. Calomay began their professional careers when Adriano was the co-executive producer and Calomay was the featurette editor for the first mainstream Filipino American feature length film, 2000’s The Debut directed by Gene Cajayon.

Today, they have reunited on a highly anticipated project that will surely solidify DC Comics’ dominance on broadcast television — DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — developed and produced by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.

Currently an Editor for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dexter Adriano is a veteran Television and Film Editor who has been working in Hollywood since the early 1990s. Born and raised in San Francisco, he attended UCLA and received a Bachelors of Arts in History. Upon graduation, he got his start working in production on such notable films as Bound by Honor and Born Yesterday. He began his editing career at Concorde/New Horizons, the company of renowned filmmaker Roger Corman and went on to work as an Assistant Editor for Selena, Clueless (the TV show), and Three Kings (for which he received an Associate Editor credit).

His editing credits also include Lizzie McGuire, Jonas, Unfabulous, The Wedding Band, Phil of the Future, Kirby Buckets and the hit USA show, Psych.  He was one of the Editors for the FOX television show The Following which he shared a Best-Editing-In-A-Series nomination from the Online Film & Television Association in 2014 . He is also the Director/Executive Producer/Co-Creator of the web series, Sweethearts of the Galaxy which was shown on Stan Lee’s World of Heroes YouTube channel.

Currently an Assistant Editor for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, A.J. Calomay was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California.  He also attended UCLA and received a Bachelors of Science, Psychobiology, Minor in Cognitive Science.  After graduation, he began honing his editing and visual effects skills at Post Logic, MTV News, Viacom, Walt Disney and New Wave Entertainment.

His editing credits include two USA Network television shows, Covert Affairs and the 2016 Golden Globe award winner for Best Television Series – Drama, Mr. Robot.   The features Iron Man 2, Hostage and Speed Racer round out his film work.

Calomay also owns and operates the community based film and video production company, Xylophone Films. Production credits include the 2003 feature film, Lumpia directed by Patricio Ginelsa Jr. and two Black Eyed Peas’ music videos, just to name a few.

From the creators and producers of Arrow and The Flash, comes DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.  Rip Hunter travels back in time to the present day where he brings together a team of heroes and villains in an attempt to prevent Vandal Savage from destroying the world and time itself.  Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Arthur Darvill, Ciara Renée, Franz Drameh, Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller and Falk Hentschel star.
