Ghen Laraya Long

Ghen Laraya Long is an experienced international technology and entertainment attorney and the current VP of Technology for the Executive board of Women in Film. She specializes in transactional contracts for the creation, production and distribution of traditional media content over new media platforms. She is the current VP of Business and Legal Affairs for Mandalay Digital Group Inc. and it’s wholly owned subsidiary Digital Turbine Inc., specializing in B2B mobile applications. She also has a roster of technotainment clients ranging from producers, directors, writers, musicians and actors as well as startups for whom she provides advice and production attorney services.

Prior to Mandalay Digital Group, Inc., she was the Assistant General Counsel and Director of Mobile Partnerships for CBS Corporation where she served as the primary legal counsel for the mobile initiatives of CBS Corporation, its subsidiaries (including CBS Interactive) and its affiliates (including Simon & Schuster, Paramount Pictures Corporation and the CW). She worked on the distribution of video content, internet websites, mobile games, and applications for such content as Star Trek the Movie, Late Show with David Letterman, Survivor, the Amazing Race, Entertainment Tonight, Twilight Zone, CBS News, CBS Sports, 90210, Gossip Girl, Melrose Place, tv.com, cnet.com, GameSpot and Last.fm. She also worked on the interactive media campaign for Big Brother 8- America’s Player which was nominated for an Interactive Media Emmy.

Prior to CBS, Ghen was International Corporate Counsel for Amp’d Mobile’s offices in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Toronto and was an integral part of the licensing deal for Lil’ Bush to Comedy Central: the first made-for-mobile program to transition to broadcast television. She was also the production attorney on the entire roster of Amp’d’s original content slate. She also has worked in the legal departments of TOKYOPOP and Yahoo! Inc.

Ghen received her law degree from the University of Western Ontario and her masters in Comparative International Law from the University of San Diego. She is qualified to practice law in Canada and in California and has worked internationally for the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium. She is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Interactive Media Peer Group) as well as Corporate Counsel Women of Color. She moderates panels for Digital Hollywood and has been a judge for several film festivals including Hollyshorts and Vegas CineFest. For the past few years she has been an active member of the Women in Film International and the Television & Media Committees. She has volunteered, contributed and raised funds for Jayo Foundation, Southern California for Children foundation, Dig for Kids, as well as for various organizations fighting against Breast Cancer and Lynch Syndrome. She is multi-lingual, comes from a family of international entertainers and was a member of the Young People’s Theatre Group in Toronto as well as Western University’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society, performing in many amateur theatre, music and dance troops growing up. Currently, in her spare time, she is a competitive indoor and beach volleyball player.
