FilAm Creative (FAC) hosted its first ever Downtown L.A. Photo Walk on Sat. March 15 to take members on a scenic nighttime stroll through the magically lit downtown L.A. skyline for photography, socializing and exercise. The walk started and ended at Far Bar with drinks afterward. In its 5th year, FAC is bringing out new unique events for its entertainment and media based members.

The organizer and FAC board member, Ed Mallillin, said “Everyone had a great time at the Downtown Photo Walk. It’s a new event for FilAm Creative. Many of our members are photography enthusiasts. And given the popularity of taking architectural, food, and tourist type pictures on social media sites, we knew this event would be a natural for our members.”

TV producer Theresa Teston Lugones added “I’m so glad I went. It was the perfect opportunity to network with fellow Filipinos while exploring downtown LA in a fun and creative way. “

Photographer Marvin Halelamien enjoyed a different type of event than mixers. “It was a fun way to explore the city and get to know other folks in FilAm Creative,” he said.

“Downtown has so many beautiful sites, and Little Tokyo offers great food,” Mallillin said.  “We didn’t realize how many times people in our group would stop for food along the way, so it sort of became a Food Tour as well. I also think Los Angeles is the perfect city for an event like this — with so many “transplants” and its legendary bad traffic, LA is a city that so many of us don’t explore as often as other people in their local cities do, so there is novelty in getting to know your own city. “

“Our Downtown Photo Walk featured a great combination of people with professional cameras, people taking pictures on their phones for sites like Instagram, and a lot of people who had never explored Grand Park, the 2nd Street tunnel, or Little Tokyo. It was definitely a “something for everyone” kind of night. And, of course, capping the night having a drink with old and new friends at Far Bar, an LA institution, was a great way to end the event.”
